Pane e Vino offers a tribute to la dolce vita through time-honored recipes of rustic Italian cuisine, delectable wines, and warm hospitality. Grown from the roots of its flagship location serving downtown Charleston since 2010, Pane e Vino relocated to its new charming Hollywood, SC home in May 2021.
The restaurant’s relaxed trattoria-style ambiance, open kitchen, cozy bar, intimate dining room and vibrant courtyard patio welcome guests from near and far. Just a short drive into the countryside, Pane e Vino is the perfect destination for those who don't care to deal with downtown parking or crowds yet seek an elevated dining experience that has them returning time and time again.
Alfredo Temelini, Chef-Owner
Passionate chef-owner, Alfredo Temelini, has never met a stranger. His hands-on zeal for serving Italian family favorites, scratch made pasta and a full menu of tastefully composed cuisine is what has inspired him to welcome guests into Pane e Vino as he would his own home since taking ownership of the restaurant in 2010.
Temelini was born in Northern Italy, but much of his culinary influence hails from Emilia Romagna where his mother, Loretta, and grandmothers, Norina e Lidia originated. “I have to thank all of them for giving me a gift that few people receive, which is allowing me to watch and participate while they cooked for our family and friends.”
Temelini grew up visiting tiny panificios and shopping the open market daily for ingredients to prepare lunch and dinner with his mother. In their coastal town of Pesaro, fresh fish was as abundant as the fruits and vegetables that changed with each season. Temelini infuses his mother’s love of homemade pasta and ravioli incorporated with flavors of traditional Tuscan recipes to continue the tradition of creating memorable meals. “I have always worked to provide a dining experience like no other in Charleston where food is served in an intimate atmosphere surrounded by live oaks, hanging lanterns and a lovely courtyard that offers a taste of Old World nostalgia.”
When he is not busy in the kitchen, you will find Alfredo feeding his farm full of horses, cattle, chickens, turkeys, quail, ducks, dogs, cats, bees, a donkey and his prize kunekune pigs: Francis (“Pancetta”) and Kevin (“Salsiccia”) Bacon.

It’s a Tuesday when we follow Highway 162 into Hollywood and park beside a cinder-block building that once housed a fire station, as well as the Old Firehouse Restaurant. Next door are hand-painted signs for “P-NUTS” and “CRABS” at a now-closed takeout vendor’s truck. But here, at Pane e Vino, the flag of Italy flutters.
I fondly remember long tables of friends and meals of pasta and wine in the courtyard when the restaurant was downtown on Warren Street, and I’ve been curious about chef-owner Alfredo Temelini’s move to this rural..... (Read More)

“Downtown quality at less-than-downtown prices” might work as a compelling tagline for Pane e Vino if the Italian restaurant still needed to distinguish itself from the crowded field on the peninsula. But Alfredo Temelini, who more than a decade ago took over ownership of Pane e Vino, no longer has to concern himself with immediate neighbors. Temelini earlier this year picked up and moved his operation to the former site of the Old.... (Read More)
